Build a well with Heyl

No drop in the ocean!

With every 500ml bottle of Testomat hardness indicator sold, we donate a small amount of money to the Neven Subotic Foundation to provide people with clean drinking water.

Our first Heyl well is being built!

Our 2019 fundraising campaign for the first Heyl well ended successfully at the beginning of 2020. For the construction of the well, 10,086.60 euros have been collected and the construction time is approximately 15 months.

We would like to thank all our customers who have contributed to building this well by buying our indicators.

Feel free to watch the personal video greeting from the Neven Subotic team on the construction of our well (link to YouTube):

Milestones to the Heyl Well

Step 1:

Only one well in our WASH projects in Ethiopia currently means clean water for an average of 350 people a day. In order to make a fair and sustainable selection of the projects, we divide the project region into five clusters, in each of which a central location is chosen as the starting point. From this, we gradually expand the radius of the areas to be covered. The wider the radius, the more new communities will have access to clean water. We are guided by defined criteria: for example, a water point must not be more than one kilometre away from the individual households.

Step 2:

A few months after the well installation, the first long-term effects of our work become apparent: In many schools, more children regularly take part in school lessons and health in the communities improves sustainably. In order for each project to function and have its effect on a permanent basis, intensive education work and regular hygiene training take place from the planning stage.

Step 3:

Together with the Ethiopian team of experts, we start after receiving your donation. On site, potential sites for well installation are first searched and tested with the help of hydrologists and drilling experts. After the appropriate well location has been found in a municipality or school, the planning is specified on site. Drilling materials are procured and after intensive preparations, discussions and training with the community residents, the well is installed.

Millions of people still do not have access to clean water and sanitation. This means that they lack the conditions for health, education and a self-determined future. The Neven Subotic Foundation wants to change exactly that and has launched the WASH initiative!

WASH – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene

Access to water, sanitation and hygiene enables children to attend school and thus creates a real future perspective! For this reason, the Neven Subotic Foundation has been building drinking water wells and sanitation facilities for schools and communities in northern Ethiopia since 2012.

What once began with only a few volunteers has evolved considerably since then. In the meantime, 173 projects have already been realized, thus building 99 wells in municipalities and 74 wells including sanitary facilities in schools. More than 60 projects are still ongoing. And the special thing is that 100% of the donations received are invested in the projects, because founder Neven Subotic finances all administrative costs with his own money!

We at Gebrüder Heyl Analysetechnik GmbH & Co. KG take our social commitment very seriously, especially the regional promotion of young talents is close to our hearts. But we want to do more and have therefore supported two UNICEF projects in our anniversary year 2018.

Then we learned about the Neven Subotic Foundation and spontaneously decided to continue our fundraising campaign beyond the anniversary year 2018 with the Neven Subotic Foundation.

Because water is our element and we want to help ensure that all people have access to clean drinking water!
